Pat lives in Toronto with his wife and 2 little
kids ages 2 and 1.
Patrick Canavan approaches his music
with a true composer's sense.
Comfortable in almost any musical configuration and genre, this self-taught
musician is fully capable of taming the raw fury of a rock band or
marshalling the awesome force of a full orchestra.
Pat is more than a singer songwriter. He is also a recording engineer
and producer who has created Rock albums as well as studied and created
a series of music therapy programs.
Pat is also an accomplished video producer and director and recently
completed the short film, Stump The Guru.
Pat also co-hosts the cooking show Toaster Oven Chef with over 1.4
million views over the summer and is available as a Podcast and mobile
phone broadcast.
Pat’s music is currently featured in 5 films, several radio
& television commercials, and now on 10 compact discs.
This year
he produced and pressed The Award Winning CD S.A.V.E. – Students Against Violence Everywhere as part of the BMO Financial
Group’s entrepreneurial program. These grade 8 students of Gordon
A. Brown Middle School rallied and learned the process of creating
a CD from the recording stage right through to manufacturing. It featured
music from Pat Canavan, Moxy Fruvous and The Gardinias as well as
7 songs by the students. They raised awareness and money in their
community and won the Bank’s highest achievement award.
Pat was also the front man for the bands U4EA, 600 and HERE.
HERE went on hiatus in 2005 so Pat decided to complete a new solo
album.
Songs For Sale is Pat’s first solo release since 1997. His
song I Want To Bond (Casino Royale) paved the way for Sir Richard
Branson to land a special guest role in the latest James Bond
film Casino Royale.
Patrick Canavan approaches his work with a true storyteller’s
intellect, at all times aware of every detail in the rich tapestry
where characters are immersed in situations. This becomes quite clear
when watching Pat’s directorial short film debut “Stump
The Guru.”
Pat works as a multimedia film producer/director as well as music
composer with his production company New Life Media.
Pat’s résumé as a producer/director includes 24
corporate and music videos, while his composing skills include several
national and local commercials, 5 short film soundtracks (including
2 awards winning films) and nine music CDs that are available through
iTunes worldwide.
“I love the process of creating”, Pat says “Whether
it’s a film, a script, a song or a delicious meal.”
He has also collaborated with Canadian artists/painters Adrian DeRooy,
Christopher Adeney and notably, Canadian legend Ken Kirkby on the
international art and multimedia tour entitled Isumataq that landed
in the Canadian House of Commons, The Museum of Natural History in
Ottawa, The Jacob Javits Center in New York City and Ontario Place.
Through ventures like these, Patrick Canavan has been described as
Canada’s emerging Robert Rodriguez as well as a “Digital
Da Vinci.”
